Sony Ericsson announced the “Radiden” today, a PDC handset intended for use with NTT’s 2G DoCoMo service. The name is a combination of “Radio” and “denwa” (means “phone”), and it looks like Sony Ericsson has made quite an effort to integrate the two. They claim that not only is it the world’s first phone to feature an integrated FM/AM/TV tuner (listen to audio from TV stations, no video), but it features what they call a “Dual Front Design,” where one side is for phone and the other for radio. Each side also has its own LCD, operational controls, and power control. Unfortunately, the Radiden offers no camera, i-Appli support (though i-Mode internet and mail are there), Bluetooth, infrared, or external memory support.
